Content Guidelines

At YouCustomizeIt, our Design Studio empowers you to create products that are as unique as you are. We love seeing your personality, diversity, and different perspectives come to life in the custom items we print every day!

We deeply respect individual differences, personal expression, and creativity. However, to ensure our community remains safe and respectful for everyone--including our production team--we have established some standard guidelines for what we can and cannot print.

While our art review team evaluates designs on a case-by-case basis, YouCustomizeIt will not produce items containing text or images that fall into the following categories:

Intellectual Property & Identity Laws

To protect creators, athletes, and brands, YouCustomizeIt strictly adheres to intellectual property laws. We will not print any text or images that infringe on copyrights or trademarks without explicit permission or proper licensing from the owner.

• Copyright Infringement: A copyright gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work. We cannot print literary, artistic, or musical designs that belong to another creator.
• Trademark Infringement: A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol, and/or design (like a brand name, slogan, or logo) that distinguishes the source of goods or services.
• Watermarked Images: Companies that sell and license imagery place protective watermarks on their designs. To print an image from a stock website, it must be legally purchased with an appropriate license (usually an extended or commercial license) that permits product manufacturing. We cannot print images that still display a watermark.

Examples of Protected Designs: Unless you own the official licensing rights or have written permission, we cannot print Disney, Marvel, or Nickelodeon characters; video game, movie, or TV show logos; professional sports team or college/university logos; or established brand logos.

By placing an order, you're confirming that you own the content you've uploaded or have permission to use it for a custom product, and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights or violate these guidelines. Additional terms in Terms of Use Agreement: Copyright Policy.

Prohibited Content

Inappropriate & Mature Content

• Explicit Content: Graphic nudity or explicit sexual text and imagery (excluding tasteful artistic layouts, or health/medical contexts).
• Exploitation: Any sexually suggestive images or text involving children.
• Substance Promotion: Content that promotes or encourages underage drinking and smoking, or glorifies the use and abuse of illegal drugs.

Safety, Harassment & Hate Speech

• Hate Speech & Symbols: Graphic elements or language targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, religion, or any other protected class.
• Violence or Hatred: Any designs that encourage, threaten, or glorify violence, harm, or hatred against others.
• Harassment & Defamation: Text or imagery that is libelous, defamatory, or can reasonably be viewed as bullying, threatening, or harmful to an individual.

Illegal Activity & Official Impersonation

• Illegal Activity: Any text or imagery that violates existing laws or actively encourages others to break the law.
• Official Impersonation: Graphics that resemble government-issued identification or could reasonably be used to falsely impersonate a business, law enforcement, or government official.

How Our Review Process Works

Our artwork review team reviews orders to ensure designs meet our guidelines.

The ultimate decision on whether a design can be printed always rests with the YouCustomizeIt artwork review team. If we notice an issue with your design or a potential copyright conflict, we typically will reach out to you within 1 business day via email. We do our best to not just cancel your order; we will work with you to help adjust your design so we can get your order printed and on its way to you!
